NONGSTOIN: Uncertainty looms large over the allotment of ticket to Congress leader Gabriel Wahlang, as another ticket aspirant from Nongstoin, Albinus Kharbani has emerged.
Sources from the Nongstoin Block Congress Committee said that the party may change its decision on allotment of ticket in Nongstoin though Wahlang was preferred at the initial stage.
The West Khasi Hills District Congress Committee believes that the MPCC had asked Kharbani to apply for party ticket from Nongstoin to take on the Congress rival Diosstarness Jyndiang from HSPDP.
Sources also said that the MPCC had also offered ticket to A. Pariong and Golden Nonglong, but they refused.
Party sources said that while Kharbani is backed by Shillong MP Vincent H Pala, Wahlang has the support of Chief Minister Mukul Sangma.
Kharbani is the former president of Nongstoin Block Congress Committee.
