Mawkyrwat: In an act of bravery, an 8-year-old boy from Rohbah village in Mawthawpdah area, South West Khasi Hills District rescued his friend from drowning after he accidentally fell into Rilang River.
According to Lamphrang Iawphniaw, Secretary of Seng Samla Shnong Rohbah, the incident took place on Sunday when Elambok Wanniang (9) and Banteilang Lyngdoh (8) were fishing in a place known as Thwei Mawkyllung in the Rilang river.
“While they were catching fish, Elambok accidentally slipped into the water. On seeing that his friend was about to drown, Banteilang ran into the forest and took a branch of a tree in which he was able to pull and rescue Elambok,” he said.
