Call for ecology of equal opportunities for PWDs

 SHILLONG: A one-day workshop on National Trust for parents, NGOs, teachers, government officials and other professionals held at Bethany Society here on Monday mooted creating an ecology of equal opportunities, no discrimination, gender equality, cross disability and access, full participation of Persons with Disabilities.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), Cara Kharkongor said that the workshop would sensitize people and make them aware about the National Trust Act.

Carmo Noronha, Executive Director at Bethany Society, called upon creating equal opportunities, no discrimination, gender equality, cross disability and access, full participation of PWDs.

It may be mentioned that Bethany Society is the State Nodal Agency under National Trust (Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment).

The National Trust is a statutory body of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, set up under the National Trust for Welfare of Persons with Autism, cerebral palsy, mental retardation and multiple disabilities.
