Education priority for Nongpoh MLA

NONGPOH: Nongpoh MLA Mayralborn Syiem inaugurated a community hall at Narang village in Ri Bhoi on Sunday.
Praising veteran leader DD Lapang, Syiem pedged to set up Northern Ri Bhoi College and a government college in the constituency “as the great leader DD Lapang has had in his vision to uplift the district in education sector”.
“Ri Bhoi is one of the luckiest districts for having a great leader like Dr DD Lapang, who had rendered the best service for the development and the welfare of the district, his contribution had led to progress on all fronts,” the first-time MLA said.
The hall was built under the Backward Region Grant Fund (BRGF) at an amount of Rs 4 lakh and the SRWP scheme of Rs 1 lakh. The Dorbar Shnong also chipped in more than Rs 5 lakh.
Speaking at the inaugural function, Syiem lauded the effort of the Dorbar Shnong and its residents for working in tandem for the development of the village.
The MLA expressed gratitude to all the villagers for their support and faith and promised to live up to their expectations.
Others who were also present in the programme were headman Dret Jynthem, secretary P Khongmalai, Balajied Rani and Nongpoh Block Congress Committee president, Plielad Tiewsoh and others.
