SHILLONG: The central executive committee of the Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) met Law Minister James Sangma on Tuesday over the appointment of Advocate General and Additional Advocate-General (AAG) for the state.
Speaking to reporters after submitting a memorandum to the minister, HYC’s education secretary Roy Kupar Synrem said, “People residing in the state should be appointed as there are many experienced senior lawyers. The state government should take the service of the senior lawyers from the state and not from outside.” The posts of AAGs and senior government advocate/pleader in the High Court of Meghalaya are vacant.
Sangma told the organisation that he would speak to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma about the suggestion.
