PDF aims to form govt in 2023

SHILLONG: Basking in the glory of the party’s success in the Assembly elections, chairman of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) PN Syiem said PDF is a fast growing political entity in the history of the state and it aims to form the government in 2023.
He was speaking at a gathering at the first anniversary celebration of the party at Jaiaw Shyiap Community hall on Saturday.
He pointed to the achievement of the party saying only a few months after its formation, the party could get four MLAs in the recently concluded Assembly session.
“We have to work hard to ensure the party get absolute majority and be able to form the government in 2023,” Syiem said adding that the party is founded on principle of protecting the rights and interest of the indigenous community.
Speaking on the Lok Sabha elections, he said the party is discussing plans to secure a foothold in other parts of the country.
As for the council elections in 2019, Syiem called upon the setting up of polling booth committees in 36 constituencies of Khasi-Jaintia Hills by December this year.
