Drug peddler nabbed in Tura, over 1000 narcotic capsules seized

TURA: Tura police have arrested a drug peddler and seized over a thousand capsules of the addictive painkiller drug Spasmo Proxyvon from Matchakolgre locality of Tura town on Thursday night.

In the light of rising drug use by adolescents in the town, police had begun a comprehensive probe and soon narrowed down on one Simon R Marak, a resident of Matchakolgre who is said to be trading in the contraband psychotropic substance.

Police teams headed by a Deputy Superintendent of Police obtained search warrants and after cordoning the house of the suspect launched a search.

The search teams found a total of 1156 capsules of the drug which was in preparation to be sold to youngsters on the streets of Tura.

The accused was arrested and taken into custody.

Police sources reveal that they we’re able to zero down on the accused based on inputs about house visits by young buyers.

TURA is slowly witnessing an alarming rise in the number of drug users among young students and some of the areas of operation by the peddlers are those frequented by students for tuition and extracurricular activities.
