Swachhta Pakhwada observed
Shillong: Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) Shillong observed swachhta Pakhwada under SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN w.e.f from April 1 to 15 with the theme “Clean Environment, Healthy Environment”. It was observed at all the subordinate offices in Shillong, Agartala and Imphal. A special cleaning drive was carried out centrally by all Doctors and Staff of CGHS Shillong at the premises of Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) Wellness Centre No-1. Laitumkhrah on Saturday. CGHS Shillong which was established in the 2002 provides comprehensive health care to the entire Central Government Employees, pensioners and their dependents as its beneficiaries in Shillong city. Addressing the gathering Additional Director, CGHS Shillong stressed upon the need of cleanliness and clean environment in today’s world as it prevents illnesses and appeal the doctors, staff and its beneficiaries to help maintain the clean environment of the all the wellness center premises. CGHS Shillong was recognized as “best performing CGHS Wellness Centre in the country’s East Zone”.
Vocational training cum service centre inaugurated
Shillong: The second floor of ‘Lions Club of Shillong Vocational Training cum Service Centre’ was inaugurated by Lion S.C Surana, Past President Lions Club of Shillong in presence of Lions Club Shillong members and community people. The function was presided over by Lion R.L Sethia, Chairman, wherein Lion Biman Talukdar President Lions Club of Shillong, offered the welcome address and Lion Prabhu Choudhury offered vote of Thanks. Lion Dr. K.K.Jhunjhunwala, Past District Governor also spoke on the occasion and called for greater service to serve the community.
Banned drug found
Shillong: On April 12, acting on inputs, the police raided the house of Simon R Marak at Matchakolgre, Tura and recovered 1156 Spasmo Proxyvon capsules from his house, which he was selling illegally. The capsule which was once a prescribed drug has been banned.
