SHILLONG: Meghalaya’s Power Minister, James K. Sangma informed that out of 772 successful jugali (helper) candidates, 519 candidates had been appointed and 233 candidates were still awaiting appointment.

In response to a supplementary query by Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement (KHNAM) MLA, Adelbert Nongrum, the minister said financial constraints led to the delay in the appointment of jugali in the state though the Board of Directors decided to appoint the selected candidates in a phase manner.

He added in the first phase, the number of jugali appointed is 336 while 223 each were being appointed in second and third phase. Further, he said there are 10 candidates each in the first phase and second phase who had not submitted their police verification.
