One electrocuted in Shillong

SHILLONG: A young man was electrocuted at Jail Road locality here on Tuesday morning.

As per residents of the nearby area, the victim has been identified as 24-yr-old Ajay Chettri, a resident of Garikhana who was working in a tourist sumo stand at Police Bazar area and the incident happened when Chettri went near an electric transformer for attending nature’s call.

As per sources his body was taken from the spot by police at around 7.30 am on Tuesday morning.

When contacted, MeECL officials said that the electric transformer had chain link fencing but few months ago miscreants cut a portion of the fencing and steal it.

Officials also said that as per the nearby shopkeepers, people often go behind the transformer for drinking and attending nature’s call.
