SHILLONG: Villagers of Warmawsaw in Ri Bhoi burnt down the house of a woman and threw her belongings to the river and some at the Village Dorbar Hall recently.
A widow and mother of four remained homeless after the incident.
It was alleged that the woman was remarried to a man who was separated from his wife for 5 years which was not approved by the village authorities.
The woman was summoned by the village heads and was asked to pay a fine of Rs 32, 000 if she wants to stay with the man she remarried.

In the meantime, OC Nongpoh has ordered the officer in- charge Patharkhman P Syiem to conduct an inquiry into the matter after visiting Warmawsaw.
The woman will file an FIR on Friday.
