SHILLONG: The state government in principle decided that the MUDA Building bye-laws will not applicable in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) areas even as the legal aspects are to be thoroughly studied.

This was informed by the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma after a tripartite meeting with the KHADC, Synjuk ki Nongsynshar Shnong ka Bri U Hynniewtrep (SNSBH) on Tuesday.

“We have decided that in principle the areas which are in the autonomous District Council, which are outside the purview of the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) in principle will not be affected by the MUDA Building bye-laws,” he told reporters.

“But there are legal provisions that need to be looked into. In the meantime, the Law Department is going through all the aspects of the legal provisions. There is some small legal clarification that needs to be made but the legal department will look into it in a time bound manner,” he added
