TURA: With an aim to prevent crimes against women and children and human trafficking in the Assam-Meghalaya Border, a police public relationship meeting was held at Kharkutta in North Garo Hills on Monday.
The meeting was attended by over 1000 people including Nokmas, Sordars and community leaders from Kharkutta and its surrounding areas.
During the meeting, district Superintendent of Police, Dr Sacheng R Marak urged all village heads and community leaders to maintain visitors’ register in order to monitor the entry and exit of outsiders.
Several questions with regard to human trafficking, child marriage and crimes against women were raised by the villagers in the meeting.
