SHILLONG: The NEIGRIHMS Resident Doctors Association has expressed its displeasure with the circular issued by the institute’s director, saying it was in complete contrast to the assurances given by him in Monday’s meeting.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, the association’s spokesperson, Synrang B Warjri said the association has expressed its displeasure over the apparent attempt of the director to cover up and distort facts pertaining to the meeting held with the residents and faculty of the department of cardiology on June 25.
“The circular is in complete contrast to the assurances he gave in the meeting,” he said.
Warjri also said that the association had given the director a timeline of 72 hours for submitting the written resolutions taken during the meeting or minutes of the meeting.
“Almost 48 hours have gone by and there has been no communication from the administration yet. The association is patiently waiting for the written resolutions and minutes of the meeting and will decide the further course of action accordingly,” he added.
The NEIGRIHMS director had on Tuesday issued a circular wherein it was stated that the DM Cardiology examination was scheduled for June/July this year and in spite of the best efforts of the dean and controller of examination, the DM Cardiology final year students did not submit the form along with examination fees for issuance of admit cards. The circular said that in the course of discussion, it appears as if students were discouraged from appearing in the said exam. Finally, the final year students absented from the scheduled theory exam in June 25,” the circular said.
The circular added that the meeting between the faculty and senior resident doctors (academics) of the cardiology department and the director, dean and deputy director was held on Monday and all issues specifically related to students’ grievances in regard to the conduct of the DM Cardiology examination were discussed and explained in detail, which was appreciated by the faculty and senior resident doctors.
According to the circular, the DM Cardiology exam will now be scheduled in consultation with NEHU.
