SHILLONG: The committee on Village Administration Bill (VAB) has constituted a team consisting of members and officials of the Council to compile the views and suggestions received from various stakeholders, organisations and general public on the VAB

Informing this here on Monday, KHADC Deputy CEM and chairman of the committee on Village Administration Bill , Teilinia Thangkhiew said that the committee would meet on July 6 to deliberate in detail on the views and suggestions which they had received

She said that she had been  overwhelmed as so many people had come forward in response to the call made by the Council.

It may be mentioned that the Council had asked the stakeholders, general public and organisations to submit their views on or before June 30.

Replying to a query, Thangkhiew said that there were many new suggestions which had been place before the committee to further strengthen the VAB.

“It would take some more time before they initiate the process to compile the report,” the KHADC Deputy CEM said.

Earlier, Thangkhiew had stated that they might call the meeting of the various stakeholders if there was a necessity in the later stage.

Replying to a query, she said that the committee had been given three months time to complete its job.

According to Thangkhiew, the main task of the committee is to address various questions raised by the Government on the relevance of the VAB in its letter addressed to the Council.

“We would like remove all the flaws to see that the aspiration of the people of seeing VAB becoming an Act becomes a reality,” the Deputy CEM added.
