SHILLONG: Congress legislator Himalaya Muktan Shangpliang will meet Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Thursday to submit a memorandum on upgrading Mawsynram, his constituency, to a civil sub-division.
Shangpliang, who is the chairman of the Mawsynram Civil Sub Division Demand Committee, had raised the demand after the MDA government announced civil sub-division status for Ranikor.
A social activist, Banshai Marbaniang, and the Hynniewtrep Youth Council will also hold a sit-in demonstration over the demand on Thursday.
The sit-in demonstration will be held at the monument of Kiang Nangbah at Civil Hospital junction.
Those who are demanding civil sub-division in Mawsynram said the issue is long pending.
