SHILLONG: The Common Minimum Programme (CMP) of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance is currently with the state government.
Speaking to the The Shillong Times, the chairman of the committee on CMP, Bindo Lanong, said the government would decide when to call for discussions.
The draft of the programme has been given to all the allies.
The common minimum programme lays emphasis on the education sector with focus on, among other things, quality teachers and improving teaching of Science and Mathematics and revamping MBoSE. CMP also calls for improvement in the healthcare sector, seeks employability in agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry and fishery sectors, industry and road connectivity.
Congress spokesperson Zenith Sangma, while criticising the coalition government and its initiatives, had recently said, “There is nothing concrete in terms of development, there were disturbances in Shillong and it is evident from the curfew which is yet to be fully lifted, there is no new initiatives taken they are only following up the initiatives of the MUA-II government.”
“A few MUA-II initiatives are being followed up whereas many schemes which were already sanctioned, especially those related to roads infrastructure, are being processed to be de-sanctioned by the new government,” he had added.
Earlier, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma had said the government created the Directorate of Food Processing, launched a number of missions in the Agriculture and Horticulture departments and several road projects worth around Rs 8,000 crore sanctioned in the last three to four months.
