Competition
On Independence Day, Jail Road Welfare Committee will organise a sit & draw competition from pre-nursery to class X. Registration is free. Office bearers
The Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers Association, Jaintia Hills region held its Regional Executive Committee (REC) meeting on Saturday at Tympang Club School, Iawmusiang, Jowai. The meeting re-elected its Regional Office Bearers for the term 2018-2021. The members elected are-president Gustapan Khonglah, vice-president Emerson Shadap among others. It was attended by all districts office bearers from both East Jaintia Hills and West Jaintia Hills respectively.

Clarification
Apropos the news item, “Spreading Khasi language in novel way,” (ST July 16) Armeet Singh had joined NEEPCO as a Security Officer in1991. After getting promotions to various ranks, he retired as DGM (S) in December 2017.

Lemon plantation
The NSS Unit, Women’s College Shillong organised a lemon plantation programme at Mawbsein village on July 13. A number of 75 lemon saplings were planted and some were distributed to households in the village.

Jhalupara council
Jhalupara Village Council informed that the general secretary of the Council, Sudev Thapa will continue to hold the post and there was no move to nominate Bipen Pradhan as general secretary since the constitution does not permit it.
