SHILLONG: The Congress has criticised both the Centre and the NEC for shelving all the projects recommended for 2017-18.
Congress legislators HM Shangpliang and PT Sawkmie told reporters on Tuesday that it is a matter of concern that the projects for 2017-18 have been discontinued.
“The irony is that fund as part of first installment for the projects like construction of stadium, football grounds, school buildings and community halls was released and some projects were taken up,” Shangpliang said.
Sawkmie said during the recent NEC meeting in Shillong, it was announced that several NEC schemes will be stopped.
He also said the North Eastern Road Sector Development Scheme has replaced the Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources, which is also a matter of concern.
Sawkmie wanted the Northeast chief ministers who are supporting the BJP-led NDA to withdraw support as certain decisions of the Centre are against the interests of the people of the North East.
