SHILLONG: BSNL has launched many customer friendly schemes for fixed access network and mobile segments.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday in the city, B. Chandra Sekhar, Chief General Manager Telecom North East-1, said one of the initiatives is the introduction of new service called ‘WINGS’
The WINGS allows customers to make and receive voice and video calls through the VoIP App installed in smartphone, tablet, I-Pad and laptop connected to any internet service in India and abroad.
“This is a unique service offered by BSNL only and this does not require a SIM for making voice and video calls”, the official said.
For one year, the service will be free and the charge will be fixed later.
When asked, the official said that new initiative goes beyond the service being provided by WhatsApp as the BSNL App helps to call any number unlike WhatsApp which is connected only to another WhatsApp number.
Another new initiative is the prepaid landline facility and the BSNL has launched fixed line prepaid telephony without any rental. Customer has to recharge the landline as and when required.
Under the new ASEEM plan, there will be a virtual landline at the rate of Rs 99/199 for six months. Customer can choose a landline number of his choice and all incoming calls to this number will be forwarded to a mobile phone number of any network of subscriber’s choice without any additional cost.
The BSNL has also introduced a broadband plan, Combo ULD 700, bundled with free Amazon prime membership.
Under the family broadband-1199 plan, with unlimited data with speed up to
10Mbps for 30 GB and 2Mbps beyond is available for 24 hours. Moreover, this provides unlimited free calling (local and STD) on any network within India with additional benefit of three prepaid connections with unlimited calling, unlimited data with 1GB/Day FUP and VAS services.
The BSNL has also introduced Patanjali BSNL plan-144 initially for members of Patanjali family and Swadeshi Samriddhi Card members. Under 1+1 scheme in landline segment along with call charges, there will be discounts on 2nd landline phone.
The second landline telephone is rent free to the customers who are having one land line connection at their premises. The second land line connection will be given at the same premises for promotional period of three months from June 4 this year.
Under landline plan Rs 99, there will be unlimited voice calls in BSNL network and free night calling to all networks between 10.30 pm to 6 am and on Sundays, free calling on all networks within India.
