SHILLONG: The Williamnagar Government College Students’ Union (WGCSU) has warned of agitation if their demands are not met.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the union alleged that even after submitting a memorandum about their grievances, the Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma has not taken any steps to help the college.
“We have submitted a reminder memorandum to the chief minister at Williamnagar to redress various grievances of our college.’’
“Earlier, on several occasions, we had met him and submitted memorandums for the development of our college”, they said.
As their plea went in vain, the union asserted that if the state government does not address their demands, they will agitate until the matter is resolved.
Earlier, the union narrated the list of their demands which included introduction of commerce stream, appointment of full-fledged vice principal, appointment of ministerial staff, construction of college building and separate library building, appointment of lecturers in the vacant posts, appointment of full-fledged librarian, computer lab with sufficient computer systems, introduction of new departments such as Sociology, Philosophy and others and construction of a basketball court.
