TURA: The United A’chik Youth Federation (UAYF) from South West Khasi Hills has urged the Director of the MeECL in East Khasi Hills to upgrade the supply of power to border villages beginning from Mawplun to Moheshkhola village in South West Khasi Hills.

The federation informed the official in a letter that people from these areas are facing problems mostly due to damage or outdated transformers, shortage of authorized linemen, power theft by certain individuals and due to the location of power pillars in jungle areas which lead to creepers covering the power lines resulting in short circuit. The federation also informed that due to the absence of systematic equipment for bill collection, villagers were facing problems in producing electricity bill receipts for different official purposes.

The federation on behalf of the affected villagers appealed to the official to look into the matter and take necessary steps to solve the problem.
