RDA to work out strategy for Ranikor by-poll on Monday

SHILLONG: The Regional Democratic Alliance (RDA) of Meghalaya will meet on Monday to discuss about supporting UDP’s candidate Pius Marwein in the upcoming Ranikor by-poll on August 23.

The UDP leader Jemino Mawthoh said that HSPDP is also a partner of the RDA and the meeting will discuss on supporting the UDP candidate in the election.

Mawthoh also informed that the Central Executive Committee of the party will meet on Tuesday to formulate strategy on how to go about the by-poll

Stating that all the UDP ministers, MLAs and party functionaries would aggressively campaign for the UDP candidate in Ranikor, Mawthoh also said that their candidate, Pius Marwein filed his nomination papers on Saturday.

Claiming that leaders from different political parties are supporting UDP in Ranikor, he added that there was a lot of enthusiasm in the party this time and their candidate have worked very hard.

Mawthoh also informed that the party will go all out to support Conrad Sangma in South Tura By poll.

The date of poll in Ranikor is August 23 while the counting will take place on August 27 and the last date of nominations is August 6. The date of scrutiny of nomination is August 7 while the last date for withdrawal of candidature is August 9
