SHILLONG: The security at the Main Secretariat was breached for the second time in two months after HYC members entered the premises on Friday morning and displayed placards.
East Khasi Hills SP Davis Marak said police would now strictly enforce entry and exit rules for all visitors except ministers and officers.
He said visitors will now have to show identity cards or pass to enter the Secretariat complex.
The district police have also written to the magistrate to impose Section 144 CrPC in and around the Secretariat.
According to Marak, the HYC members did not enter the Secretariat together but came in one by one.
On June 4, a group of hawkers entered the premises of the Main Secretariat after breaking the lock of the entrance gate and shouted slogans. The group wanted to meet Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma during the height of protest at Motphran.
However, the security breach was then downplayed by the chief minister.
