Felicitation
Nikhil Bharat Banga Sammelan, Shillong, will hold its annual cultural cum felicitation ceremony for meritorious students on August 12 at Kailash Manch, Laban Bengalee Boys’ Higher Secondary School. Keya Sengupta, director of IIM Shillong will be the chief guest.

Unit dissolved
The Meghalaya Upper Primary School Teachers Association (MUPSTA) has decided to dissolve its sub-divisional unit in Mairang, West Khasi Hills. The decision was taken at a special CEC at New Hope Restaurant, Barik, on Saturday. It also appointed Bok Wahlang as convener. MUPSTA’s districts leaders from Khasi and Jaintia Hills attended the programme.

Members elected
STIEH during its meeting held on August 4 has elected new members with Deiwi Tongper as president, Rani Kurbah as secretary, Badariti L Nonglait as publicity secretary and Lucratia Dohtdong as finance secretary along with other members.

Body formed
South West Tourism Society (SWTS) has been created with its headquarters at Ampati. Office bearers to lead the new body were elected with Rikcheng N Marak  as president, Hendrick Ch Marak as vice president, Cryster Ch Marak as secretary, Sakal Ch Marak as joint secretary, Johnbosco M Marak as accountant, Grewwel Ch Marak as treasurer and Salsano R Marak as organizing secretary besides 7 other members.

Meeting
The executive committee of the UDP, Mawkyrwat Circle in a meeting held on July 4 has decided to support the Regional Democratic Alliance candidate, Pius Marwein in the upcoming Ranikor by-election. The unit also elected Synshar Lyngkhoi as the new general secretary and resolved to strengthen the primary unit after the by-election.
