MAWKYRWAT: The UDP Ranikor circle got a shot in the arm on Thursday when many leaders and supporters of the Congress, NPP and BJP joined the party to support its by-poll candidate Pius Marwein.
Among those who joined UDP were supporters of former Congress MLA Martin M Danggo, who is contesting this time on NPP ticket, Sarin and Nongkynbah villages, said UDP youth wing secretary here Bahunlang Sanglein.
“With the joining of the leaders and supporters of other political parties, especially the Congress, we are more confident now that we can win the election because now we know,” Sanglein said.
The NPP members under the leadership of Bralin Marwein, Skhemlan Kharbani, Dmit Hajong and Farmingstar Langte were inducted into the party by Marwein and other leaders of the UDP Ranikor circle during their visits to villages, including in the border areas, in the constituency on Tuesday and Wednesday.
“SB Roy Thongni, who was the president of the Nongkynbah Congress Primary Unit, Bitnam Nongsiej, secretary of the Sarin Congress Primary Unit and other members joined UDP,” Sanglein said.
These leaders were welcomed during a meeting in the presence of Marwein, former BJP leader Pelcy Snaitang, president of the Circle GG Bung Snaitang and others.
