BENGALURU: After losing the first match badly, South Africa A bounced back in style restricting India A to 345 in the first innings and replied with 219 for 3 on the second day of the four-day unofficial ‘test’ being played at Alur grounds in the city on Saturday.
Resuming at a healthy 322 for four, India A were dismissed fpr 345 as fast bowler Duanne Olivier came to terms with the wicket and sent the Indian batsmen on a parade.
The Bloemfontain born pacer ran through the India A batting order by claiming six wickets with an impressive figure of 24-6-63-6 as India A lost their last five wickets scoring just seven runs in 4.5 overs.
Overnight centurian Haunma Vihari could add just 10 runs to his overnight score to be dismissed by fast medium bowler Anrich Nortje to be the seventh man out. Earlier Olivier put early skids on the India A innings dismissing Srikar Bharat (34) and Jayant Yadav (01) to put the host on the backfoot on 340 for 6. Vihari was dismissed on the same score and the tail crumbled within the space of a few balls and India A finished at a dissapointing total after being at a healthy state on day one.
Replying, South Africa A made a disastrous start with Peter Malan dismissed by first match hero Mohammed Siraj in the first over of the innings. Hoever, Sarel Erwee (58) and Zubaya Hamza (93) added 154 for the second wicket to lead the visitors’ fight back and later Rassav Dussen (18 barring) and Rudi Second (35 batting) remained unbeaten at draw of stumps adding 57 runs for the fourth wickets in 18.5 overs.
