Meghalaya BJP unit mourns demise of Vajpayee

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya State  BJP unit on Friday remembered former Prime Minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee  who was laid to rest with full state honours in New Delhi.

The BJP organised a condolence meeting here at the BJP office in which founding and senior members  of the party recalled Atal Bihari Vajpayee   who had a soft corner for the  North East region.

Speaking at the meeting, BJP Meghalaya president, Shibun Lyngdoh said that  Atal Bihari Vajpaye took special interest for the   development of the North East region.

He also said that the former PM had a dream to connect the region with the rest of the country and hence massive road programmes for the region were initiated under the leadership of  Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

He also termed the death of the former PM as  great loss for the country

Earlier, floral tributes were also paid to Atal Bihari Vajpayee  who in his stint as the PM of the country had also visited Shillong.

Other senior leaders of the party also spoke at the condolence meeting.  A similar condolence meeting was also organised in South Shillong constituency.
