SHILLONG: AH Scott Lyngdoh, who was the minister-in-waiting for former prime minister A B Vajpayee when he visited Shillong in January 2000, was humbled by the warm gesture of the late leader during his two-day stay.
“I was holding the portfolio of Home and Finance and I was the minister-in-waiting to receive him and accompany him and his warm approach touched my heart,” he said.
The late prime minister chaired a meeting in Shillong during the Meghalaya Day on January 21 and discussed the issues concerning the North East.
“We learned a lot from him and I was impressed by his love for the people of the region,” said 88-year-old Lyngdoh.
The chief minister that time was late BB Lyngdoh.
