SHILLONG: Buddha Bhanu Saraswati (BBS) college is celebrating its silver jubilee this year through myriads programmes slated to be held throughout the year.
The opening ceremony will be held on August 23 at 4:30 pm in Babu Mani Singh Gurung Auditorium, Upper Mawprem,
Governor Ganga Prasad will be the chief guest.
BBS college was established to mitigate the admission crises in 1993 when the number of students who passed their HSLC examinations was higher than the number of seats available in the colleges of Shillong and Greater Shillong. t
The college was established on August 23, 1993 at Upper Mawprem and it has grown from a fledgling to one of the most successful self financed colleges of the state.
It offers both humanities and commerce as field of studies.
Since its inception, the college has grown both in number of students and also had its share of excellence in education and sports. The college is organising a series of programme to mark its silver jubilee ceremony from August 23 till December 8.
