SHILLONG: HYC Mawlai circle has taken exception to the anomaly in the allotment of construction work in NEHU.
HYC informed that the last day for submission of tender for the construction work at the cost of Rs 11,03847 was on Tuesday, but the work was already allotted to A.V Khyriem and construction was carried out.
The HYC questioned as to where the tender money will go when the work has already been allotted.
The HYC met the Executive Engineer (EE), Campus Development Department of NEHU.
According to HYC, the EE had gone against the rule of the tendering notice and defamed the image of the Campus Development Department office of NEHU.
“He had given us an excuse that this is an emergency work and that he should complete it on or before October”, the HYC said.
The pressure group further pointed out that rules say that emergency work means only repairing work  with a small amount.
The HYC informed that while holding discussion, the EE assured that henceforth for any emergency work, he will call the tender and within a short period of time, he will allow the participants to compete for such work or tender.
