SHILLONG: While NPP is confident that the party will win both South Tura and Ranikor seats, a win either for UDP or PDF in Ranikor will not have any impact on the coalition.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong said on Friday that the party was confident to retain both the seats.
However, to a question, Tynsong said, “Even if UDP wins, there is no problem as the party is part of the MDA coalition.”
As far as Ranikor is concerned, Tynsong said the victory margin of NPP candidate MM Danggo will be the same as the last polls.
In the February 27 Assembly polls, Danggo had secured 10,952 votes while his nearest rival, UDP candidate Pius Marwein, got 8,950 votes.
After analysing the polling booth-wise percentage, Tynsong said Danggo will secure 70 percent votes from the border area while he will get 30-35 percent votes in the upland area where both UDP and PDF candidates will share 60-65 percent votes.
“Danggo is expected to get maximum votes out of 25,000 votes polled while the votes to be secured by the Congress candidate may not cross 1,000. The PDF candidate will get around 2,500 votes,” he said.
According to Tynsong, Danggo would be able to secure 11,250 votes which will ensure his victory.
