BBS College begins silver jubilee celebrations

SHILLONG: Buddha Bhanu Saraswati College is celebrating its silver jubilee this year through a series of programmes slated to be held throughout the year. The opening ceremony was held on Thursday in Babu Mani Singh Gurung Auditorium, Garikhana.
The outgoing governor Ganga Prasad graced the occasion as the chief guest.
BBS college was established to ease the admission crisis in the year 1993 when the number of students seeking admission was much greater than the number of available seats in the colleges of Shillong.
In the silver jubilee year, the college hopes that the institution will cross many more milestones in the years to come. The college is constantly endeavoring to live up to its motto.
The cultural and publicity In-charge of the Silver Jubilee Celebration, Krishna Chauhan said the BBS College holds a distinction of being one of the most successful self-financed colleges in the state offering course in both Arts and Commerce streams with a team of staff and management.
Various programmes and events are conceptualized to mark the silver jubilee celebration from August 23 to December 8.
Prasad expressed happiness and congratulated the management, staff and students for treading into 25th years and wished the college to scale much greater height both in excellence and impact to society. The programme was attended by many dignitaries, founding and donor members, past teachers, alumni, members of the governing body including the president of the governing body D.B. Gurung, secretary of the governing body B.B.Chettri, senior member of the governing body D.P.Joshi, Principal Sanjay Rana, vice principal Sunita Lama, members of the teaching and non teaching staff.
Prasad also lauded the students and teachers for synergising the talent and preparation of the balanced programme. He also encouraged more initiative as state has huge potential of growth in education, agriculture and others as he appreciated the people of the state for simplicity, hard work and hospitality.
