SHILLONG: A consultative committee of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) said that the MDCs from Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Councils (JHADC) should also be part of the Committee.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, the committee headed by MDC Manstudy Nongrem to discuss on the KHAD (Khasi Social Custom of Lineage) (First and Second Amendment) Bills said, “It will not only be a committee of members from the Khasi Hills but it should also include members from the JHADC.”He added that if the members from the JHADC are present, the committee will look into the next decisions to be taken.
“It would not be possible for only members from the Khasi Hills to make decisions on the Bill but members from the JHADC need to be present,” Nongrem said. He added that a letter will be sent to the KHADC CEM in this regard.
