HYC asks PWD to repair West Khasi Hills road

NONGSTOIN: The Hynniewtrep Youth Council (HYC) has raised concerns over the pathetic condition of the road in Lai Lyngdoh area in West Khasi Hills connecting Kynroh-Jaidoh.
Members of HYC Lai Lyngdoh Area Unit along with a group of media persons conducted a spot inspection on Wednesday.
The unit’s president, Fullbackstar Shangrit, said the road needs immediate repair as villagers are being affected.
During a meeting, Shangrit urged the executive engineer of PWD (Road) to take address the difficulties faced by the locals, especially in the time of emergency. Even heavy vehicles do not ply on this road, he informed.
The engineer assured that he, along with a team from the PWD, will conduct an inspection before starting repair.
“The proposal for the road from Kynroh to Jaidoh was sent to the state government to include under the PMGSY scheme,” he said.
HYC said it is PWD’s duty to carry repair the road.
