Prawns off the market after formalin test

SHILLONG: After prawns brought from outside the state were found to be positive for formalin, they were withdrawn from the market.
As a follow-up, the Health department said on Saturday that regular checking will be carried out to prevent formalin laced fish and prawns reaching the state.
Tests were also conducted on other fish varieties.
Recently, the state Health department withdrew restriction for the sale of imported fish after the ban was imposed for 30 days.
