SHILLONG: Meghalaya state Congress has slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the issue of resolving the ban on coal mining in the state.

Talking to media persons, Congress leader, PT Sawkmie said that the central leader from BJP who came to Meghalaya during elections had claimed that they would resolve the issue of ban on coal mining within a month’s time

“ However, now  six months have passed since his government came to power  and BJP is a part of this Government, but there is no word on resolving the issue,” Sawkmie said.

Terming the state Cabinet Ministers as photo-opportunist, he said  that the Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma soon after taking charge claimed that he would bring many benefits to the people of the state but till now,  many teachers in the state were crying over their salaries.

He also said that no big project had been sanctioned for the State in the recent past whereas contractors in the state were waiting for clearance of their bills

He also expressed surprise that most of the leaders in the ruling coalition were mum over the growing price rise and especially sky rocketing price of petrol and diesel.
