SHILLONG: The mother of the St Anthony’s student, Pyndapborlang Hubert Khongsit (15), who died an unnatural death, has filed an FIR at the Laitumkhrah police station on Monday alleging that he was killed by her relatives and it was not suicide.
The mother, Maria Khilan Khongsit, filed the FIR thanks to the intervention of the CSWO.
According to the FIR, before August 21, the day of the incident, her son had stayed for two weeks in the house of her husband’s sister, Bilda Lyngdoh Nongum, which is in Nongrimbah West, Block V, Laitumkhrah, since she had scolded him for not studying.
He is a Class X student of St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Laitumkhrah. The mother said since she was separated from her husband Brester Lyngdoh for about a year, she did not say anything when he stayed there.
Pyndap had told his mother that he would come after the selection test and there was a room for him to stay as her house was small.
The mother said in the FIR that on August 21, Pyndap’s class teacher called up and asked her to come to school.
“I went there at about 11 am and I was told that my son had not come to school that day. I told the teacher and the Principal that my son was staying with his aunt, Bilda Lyngdoh Nongum. Then I called up my sister-in-law Bilda, who came with her daughter Darishisha Lyngdoh Nongum,” the mother said.
The teacher and the principal had told them not to beat him up or scold him but to bring him the next day to school to be counselled.
The mother dropped them near Nazareth Hospital and went for her work hoping that the next day her son would be counselled in school along with the teacher and the principal.
Instead, on August 21, a neighbour of the mother, Jonika Nongbet, in tears, informed her children around 7.30 pm that Pyndap hanged himself in his aunt’s (Bilda Lyngdoh Nongum) house.
“I also received a call from Claron Thabah (neighbour) of Bilda between 5.45-6.30pm telling me that she saw my son being beaten up by Darishisha,” the FIR said.
Pyndap’s brother Albert also informed her about the incident and she reached there around 8.30 pm and found that the body of Pyndap was laid on the bed and wrapped with a cloth.
“I was informed later that two persons, Deepak and Rebecca, had been there first and had seen my son on the floor in the house of Bilda,” the mother said.
According to the mother, another neighbour called Lit, heard Darishisha screaming and she heard her waking Pyndap up and apologising for beating him. When Lit asked what happened, there was silence.
The FIR said the mother suspected that her son was badly beaten up and murdered by Darishisha as she was also seen by Claron Thabah, Rebecca and Melicia Kshiar dragging him from the road, slapping and beating him on August 21 between 5.35-6.30pm.
“The theory that my son committed suicide and hanged himself was made up by some of the members of the family of my estranged husband Brester Lyngdoh to cover up the murder by Darishisha and they destroyed all evidence and even damaged the mobile phone of my son,” the mother said in the FIR.
According to the mother, the window, where they said her son hanged himself, is short and he could not have hanged himself from there. “Moreover, there are no signs to indicate that my son hanged himself. In fact, the room where he was alleged to have committed suicide in is the room of Bilda Lyngdoh Nongum,” the FIR said.
The mother urged police to arrest Darishisha and those who helped in destroying the evidence so that justice is delivered to her son.
The copies of the FIR were forwarded to the SCPCR and the DGP.
