Slippers from ‘The Wizard of Oz’ finally return homeWashington: The FBI has finally recovered the pair of ruby slippers from the classic 1939 film ‘The Wizard of Oz’. According to FBI, the slippers were recovered during a summer sting operation, 13 years after they disappeared from a Minnesota museum, Variety reported. Jill Sanborn, a special agent in charge of the Minneapolis Division of the FBI, said that Dorothy’s slippers are a treasured piece of Americana, and that they are hoping members of the public can help them better fill in the details that will finish the script of this mystery so they can hold accountable all those who were behind the scheme. The shoes carried an insurance of 1 million USD and an additional 1 million USD was offered by an anonymous donor for their safe return. FBI on Tuesday claimed that the theft was an attempt to extort the Markel Corporation, the owner of the slippers. The timing could not be better since Warner Bros. are currently working on an animated adaptation of ‘Toto: The Dog-Gone Amazing Story of the Wizard of Oz’. (ANI)

Danish police fine Turkish tourist for wearing face veil
Copenhagen: Police in Denmark say they fined a Turkish tourist 1,000 kroner (USD 155) after she entered a police station to renew her visa wearing a full-face covering. Police in Aarhus, western Denmark, say the 48-year-old woman wasn’t aware of Denmark’s recent law that makes it unlawful to wear such garments in public. The much-debated “burqa ban” prohibits garments covering the face, including burqas and niqabs. Both are rarely seen in Denmark. Police said on Tuesday that the woman paid the fine, removed her full-face cover and walked away. No other details were available. (AP)

Koala wanders through pharmacy in Australia
SYDNEY: A surprised visitor to an Australian pharmacy captured video of a wayward koala wandering through the store. The video shows the koala being escorted out of the store by an employee that watches as the small marsupial exits through the automatic doors at the pharmacy in Portland, Victoria. The filmer said the video actually shows the second time the koala entered the store, after having been ejected moments earlier. The customer said the koala entered the store for a third time and employees decided to catch it in a cardboard box. “Thank goodness they were able to place a large box over him, to secure him and protect him from harm until Wildlife offers were able to collect him and take him out the nearby bushlands,” the filmer wrote.
