SHILLONG: Congress MLA Mayralborn Syiem has raised concern over shortage of safe drinking water in Nongpoh.
Syiem said on Wednesday that he would get approval from the 15th Finance Commission for the Greater Nongpoh Combined Water Supply Scheme that is estimated to be Rs 75 crore.
“The DPR has been prepared and it is with the Planning Department,” he added.
The source of the water will be taken from the Umran river.
Public Health Engineering (PHE) Minister Samlin Malniang has assured the legislator to take up the project and assured that water supply schemes in Nongpoh and Baghmara would be implemented.
