MLCU music dept performs gigs at city cafés

SHILLONG: The Department of Music at Martin Luther Christian University made a melodious start to the weekend with performances at cafes and clubs across the city on Friday.
The students of the department performed at Mellow Mood Cafe, Cafe Shillong and Evening Club. They sang traditional songs of the Khasi, Jaintia and other tribes of the North East as well as reggae and pop.
The event, termed AMusiCafe, is organised by the department every semester to make students accustomed to live performances before gradually performing in the university’s annual music concert.
Dr M Lyngdoh, HoD, said these performances are part of the students’ experience and they are also trained with proper stage sounds and crowd.
