SHILLONG: Phulbari legislator SG Esmatur Mominin has asked Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui to start recruitment of teachers in LP and UP schools after the final result of D.El.Ed batch of 2017-18 is declared or the department should allow those undergoing D.El.Ed training to apply for the recruitment.
In a memorandum, Mominin said many candidates are appearing for D.El.Ed and they will be able to clear their examinations next year. “If the recruitment process starts now, almost all the students, especially in the plains belt of Garo Hills, will not be eligible to apply for the posts,” he said.
Rymbui assured that candidates who are undergoing D.El.Ed training will be given an opportunity and even if they are cleared by the selection board, they will be appointed only after they complete their D.El.Ed.
According to Mominin, recruitment should be based on NCTE norms which say an applicant must have 45-50 percent in HS along with diploma in elementary education for primary schools and graduation with 45-50 percent in UP schools.
