School founders feted
The brother-sister duo, Skoi Nongspung and Meris Nongspung, who founded Nongspung-Mawria Secondary School at Thynroit under Mawkynrew Block of East Khasi Hills, were felicitated for their contribution to education/literary.
Coming from poor background, the siblings were determined to give underprivileged children an opportunity to study by not charging any fees.
The teachers get their financial assistance from Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA), which is distributed among the teachers.
