District Child Protection Committee meeting held

TURA: The Meeting on District Child Protection Committee, West Garo Hills was held recently at DRDA Conference Hall in Tura which was chaired by West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh. Superintendent of Police, WGH, Dr. M G R Kumar, Project Director, DRDA, A M Sangma, Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Tura, Principal Magistrate, Juvenile Justice Board, District Mission Coordinator, SSA, Tura, District Social Welfare Officer, WGH, District Medical and Health Officer and other members of the committee attended the said meeting.

During the meeting, the committee discussed various problems related to children of rape victims wherein the name of the accused is published in the papers. Further, the meeting also discussed the necessity of Counsellors in schools as well as to organise training for teachers on POCSO Act 2012 and Child Rights.
