KHADC panel’s lineage bill meet on Sept 24

SHILLONG: The KHADC Consultative Committee headed by former CEM Manstudy Nongrem said it would stick to the spirit of the Khasi Social Custom of Lineage) (Second Amendment) Bill.
The next committee will be held on September 24 to discuss the lineage bill. It intends to complete the task of studying the bill before the session of the KHADC starts.
Further, Nongrem said the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council MDCs could not attend the meeting of the consultative committee as they had to discuss in the executive committee.
“We expect to see them in the next meeting,” Nongrem said.
The committee has Co-opt former secretary Wan Kharkrang who was instrumental in framing the Bill of 1997.
