NPP to expand base in Mizoram

SHILLONG: NPP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong met former Mizoram home minister from the Congress R Lalzirliana and MNF leader Zoramthanga to expand the party’s base in the last bastion of the Congress in the North East.
Tynsong told reporters on Wednesday that he met several non-Congress leaders last week for forging understanding to oust the Congress from power.
Tynsong said talks were still on with suspended Congress vice president Lalzirliana and refused to comment on whether he will join NPP.
When asked about his meeting with several MNF leaders, Tynsong said he cannot divulge the details.
Tynsong admitted that he invited the leaders whom he met in Mizoram to join NPP, which according to him is an acceptable political party.
“Besides Meghalaya, the NPP’s presence is very much there in Nagaland, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and the party’ next target is Mizoram,” Tynsong said.
He asserted that the Congress will be ousted from Mizoram in the next Assembly polls.
