Meghalaya thump Arunachal by 256 runs

GUWAHATI: Meghalaya defeated Arunachal Pradesh by a huge margin of 256 runs in the Round V Plate group match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy at Anand, Gujarat on Monday.
Electing to bat first, a dominant batting performance by Meghalaya helped the team pile up a mammoth total of 317 for 4 wickets in 43 overs. The match was curtailed by seven overs due to overnight rain.
Punit Bisht a very talented cricketer continued with his blistering form scoring 135 runs in 90 balls and was ably supported by in form Yogesh who remained unbeaten on 56 off 46 balls. Jason Lamare and Gurinder chipped in with 42 and 35 (not out) runs respectively.  Doria claimed two wickets for Arunachal conceding 49 runs.
In reply, Arunachal found it difficult from the start and were bundled out for a paltry 61 in 26 overs. The highlight of the Meghalaya bowling was the fiery spell of medium pacer Abhay Negi who scalped seven wickets, the highest of the tournament so far, conceding only 16 runs in 6 overs. He was supported by Lakhan who took 2 wickets giving away 21 runs.
Meghalaya will now clash with Bihar at Vadodara on September 26.
