Army engage with exchange of fire with ULFA(I) ultras

GUWAHATI: A major operation was launched by security Forces based on information about movements of insurgents in areas near Jagun and Kakorani Reserve Forest in the eastern Assam on Monday evening, according to a defence source. The operation resulted in exchange of fire between Security Forces and ULFA(I) insurgents. It is reported that two ULFA(I) insurgents were seriously injured in the firefight and one of them was likely to be Tiger Asom. At the site of incident, a massive Improvised Explosive Device (IED) weighing 3 kg, live grenades of Under Barrel Grenade Launcher fired cartridges and other war like stores have also been recovered. Additional columns of security forces have been dispatched and search operations are still in progress.
