SC Collegium names HS Thangkhiew as new HC judge

SHILLONG: The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended senior Advocate Hamarsan Sing Thangkhiew to be appointed as the Judge of the High Court of Meghalaya.
The Collegium made the recommendation on September 25.
Earlier on February 26 this year, the recommendation was made by the Chief Justice of Meghalaya High Court and the Meghalaya government had no objection.
The Collegium said for the purpose of assessing merit and suitability of Thangkhiew, it had scrutinised the documents placed before it besides interacting with him.
“On the basis of interaction and having regard to all relevant factors, the Collegium is of the considered view that Shri Hamarsan Singh Thangkhiew, Advocate, is suitable for being appointed as Judge of the Meghalaya High Court,” the Collegium said.
