Accident
On September 30 around 8 am, one vehicle (ML-10B-2435) driven by Amoros Phawa dashed against the guard wall of DFO office in Jowai. The driver and one occupant sustained injuries and were taken to Civil Hospital, Ialong. In the incident, the guard wall collapsed and two electric poles were also damaged.
Fraud
Melari Lyngkhoi lodged a complaint stating that on September 29 around 7.30 am, he had received an anonymous phone call, wherein the caller introduced himself as a Branch manager of SBI Mawlai Branch and asked for his ATM card details. Later, the complainant learnt that Rs. 5,000 had been fraudulently debited from his SBI account.
Michael Sohtun lodged a complaint stating that on September 26 around 3:30 pm, he received one text message informing him that Rs 40,000 had been debited from his SBI account.
NGT violations
L Kharkongor, Inspector, Legal Metrology, East Jaintia Hills District lodged a complaint stating that on September 27 around 10 am, he along with Police detected seven labourers Md. Monwar Hussain Burbhuya (30), Md. Iman Uddin (50), Md. Afmul Uddin Mazumdar (22), Md. Haris Uddin Borbhuya (47), Md. Akbal Hussain (25), Md. Fakar Uddin (22) and Md. Jasem Uddin (28), while they were extracting coal at Nongjri in East Jaintia Hills.
On September 26 around 4:00 pm, Police detected three dumper trucks ML-04C-6872 driven by Kermiki Kanai, ML-04C-3295 driven by Kular Papiah and ML-04B-4570 driven by John Suchiang, while violating the NGT order.
Theft
On September 30 afternoon, unknown miscreants stole one motorcycle (ML-05N-6359) belonging to Rahul Syiemlieh from Khlieh Iewduh.
Charles Kharumnuid lodged a complaint stating that on September 29 morning, two persons identified as Manbhalang Dkhar (20) and Wanding Lyngdoh Mawlong (32) were caught red-handed while attempting to steal brand new tyres from his workshop in Mawblei.
On September 28, unknown miscreants stole one motorcycle (ML-05R-7025) belonging to Wanboklang Diengdoh from his residence at Riatsamthiah.
Threat
Chand lodged a complaint stating that on September 29, he had received an anonymous phone call, wherein the caller demanded Rs 5 lakh from him and threatened him with dire consequences.
